Why you Should Hire a Professional Moving Company

There is a great way you can handle all your moving needs, but not all ways are the same. When it comes down to it you can do a lot of the work by yourself, but the truth is you will have a lot to gain by using a professional service instead. The following will explain the way you can handle this and why hiring a professional moving company will be a really good idea:

  • They possess experience

iStock_000002736490XSmall

Experience is one major factor when it comes to being able to execute a successful house moving process. A lot of movers out there are trained to provide a service that handles personal belongings in a way that allows it to be a safer job. Your smaller items will be boxed carefully; your larger furniture will be secured alongside appliances as well. Once your items have been safely moved into a new residence your possessions will be carefully carried inside and unpacked if that is your wish. Chances are your entire move will be a fast, smooth and trouble-free relocation work that will be done in an efficient way, something a whole lot more efficient than what you would be able to handle alone.

  • Speed and efficiency

iStock_000008783444XSmall

Movers will often pride themselves on being very efficient and saving their clients a lot of effort and time in the process. With the tight schedules most people need to keep, the speed offered by moving companies will be something you can count on to make the move on time and as you see fit.

  • Reliability

Unless you happened to run out of luck and you felt into the hands of some really bad movers, taking advantage of what a real mover has to offer will be a great and trustworthy option you can work with. When you agree to hire the movers your specific needs will be covered, but you will need to have a bill of lading at all costs, meaning a moving agreement between you and the moving company in question. Make sure you carefully read everything in it to ensure you have a thorough understanding of the process involved and how it will move on once the big day arrives. This document will be the paper trail proving your moving company has reached an agreement with you on a date and transportation of your items, handling them to a new address.

  • Safety and more

Safety is one crucial element of the job that is needed to maintain how your needs will be covered and your items will be kept from harm. Hiring an experienced team of movers means you will ensure the safety of your items and the safety of yourself during the process, not having to lift a finger to make it happen. Experienced professional movers will understand exactly what is needed to make your possibly bumpy ride into something that works out quite nicely in the long run. With the experience they possess they will have a chance to handle it all in a way that is most beneficial to you and what you need in the long run. The other thin you will need to keep in mind is that the movers will possess the physical strength and ability to handle the task, so you won’t have to handle all the heavy objects yourself. The moving crew will also be aware of the many safety techniques during the task to avoid injuries, something you will likely not be aware of due to lack of experience in moving.

Hiking with Infants, Toddlers and Children

Once you were free and single and you loved romping up hills and mountains. Then you got married and children arrived. Has your walking and hiking become a distant memory?

Don’t let it and you should just take your kids hiking with you!

Ok so hiking with infants on mountains may not be a good idea, but you can take them on country walks and start to build up their legs and stamina and instill them with a love and enthusiasm for the great outdoors which will stay with them for all their life!

So How Should You Start?

If your children are about 2 or so years old and have been “toddling” for a while make the walk sound exciting and have a target destination such as a local animal farm, recreation park or local woods etc.

Choose a good weather day and take along or buy some treats on the way for them.

Don’t try and go too far or too fast and take their pram or buggy with you in case they become tired and upset.

Initially a stroll to the local shop or shops on good pavements or level grass will help you judge their ability especially if they are very young.

In the countryside point out birds and animals and different plants.

Let them collect leaves, acorns and small stones etc.

When hiking with infants keep a close watch on them at all times and stay close to them.

Do this once or twice per week as part of your quality time with them and gradually extend the distance.

Older children say 4 and 5 years old…

Expand on the above ideas and gradually extend the length and time of each walk.

Use local footpaths and forest tracks where the terrain undulates and they can scramble over tree roots and boulders or even paddle through very small and shallow streams. Keep close to them when you are near any water.

Encourage them to carry their own small backpack with their own food and water in.

At this age they will be full of energy and you can build them up to hikes of say 3 or 4 miles or so depending on their age and ability. You will be surprised how far they walk and run but you must try and keep it interesting for them.

Sometimes they may wish to bring a friend along but remember that you are then responsible for both (or all) of them. As their stamina builds up you will be able to take them on more hilly walks and into different new areas. Thus, it is best fro you to choose good weather days.

Clothing and Footwear

At first their normal clothes will suffice as you will hopefully have chosen good weather days. However depending on the time of year and the weather conditions they will need a warm and shower proof coat, gloves and a hat. As they develop you can upgrade their walking gear to include a waterproof gore-tex jacket and overtrousers. Look at online store for secondhand gear as young children will quickly grow out of anything you buy for them.

Child footwear is more important. When they first start to walk buy good leather and lightweight hiking boots for normal wear (infants walking shoes) and avoid having to buy them “trainers” for as long as possible!

Therefore for the first couple of years of walking they can wear good fitting leather shoes and in bad conditions.

However when they are ready for longer walks over hills you should buy leather boots for them, such as Brashers. Again look at online store for secondhand boots as they will quickly grow out of them.

Cairo, a Treasure-trove of Historical Heritages

The Greater Cairo region is at the heart of Egypt and features countless ancient landmarks and thrilling sights to see. The center of the region is the vast city of Cairo, situated on the East side of the Nile. The city of Cairo has a population of over 16 million, making it the largest city in the whole Arab world and Middle East. On the other side of the Nile is Giza, where an hour away from central Cairo the famous Pyramids and Sphinx are located. There are other cities and districts in Greater Cairo, but Cairo and Giza are the main attractions.

Transportation and Accommodation

The best way to get around Cairo is by metro, because the traffic is very congested. The metro is cheap and fast, and it features both air-conditioned and unconditioned trains. However, in some cases it is necessary to take a bus or taxi to get to places the metro doesn’t reach.

In terms of accommodation, there are many options with prices ranging from $100 a month to $1000 a day. If you’re planning on staying for months, you can rent a lower quality flat outside the city center for a very low price, or you can find nicer places in the city center that cost from hundreds to thousands of dollars a month. Hostel rooms, even in the center of Cairo, can easily be found for as little as $8 a day, while comfortable and spacious hotel rooms can be found for prices as low as $30.

Things to Do and Sights to See

Once your accommodation is settled, there are a great variety of things to do and sights to see. The most obvious places to go are the museums and monuments. The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, featuring mummies and countless other artifacts, is enough to keep one busy for days. The Pyramids, the Sphinx, and other ancient sites in Giza are an obvious must-see, and you can intersperse your visits to them with some fun camel and horse riding in the open desert of Giza.

Back in Cairo proper, there is the Citadel of Cairo, a medieval citadel dating from the time of the crusades, where you can visit some famous mosques and the National Military Museum. To the Northeast of central Cairo is the second oldest Islamic university in the world, al-Azhar University. There is also the famous Khan el-Khalili bazaar, a bustling marketplace located in a medieval mausoleum. Adjacent to the bazaar is a very significant Muslim religious site, the Al-Hussein mosque, where the head of Muhammad’s grandson Husayn is said to be buried.

Besides the many Islamic sites, Cairo also has an extensive Coptic Christian heritage. Within the Coptic Cairo area is the Babylon Fortress, an ancient Roman fortress that now has several Coptic churches within in its grounds. It also contains the Coptic Museum, which features a vast array of artifacts and art. Also in Coptic Cairo is the Ben Ezra Synagogue, where baby Moses is said to have been found by the Pharaoh’s daughter.

For a break from sightseeing, there are a variety of cultural activities such as concerts, operas and clubs. Cairo is very active at night and there is no shortage of activities at any hour, although it is safer not to stay out too late.

Food and Tips
For food, there are many restaurants, markets and vendors all around the city. In the wealthier areas such as central Cairo there are a variety of restaurants, ranging from luxurious traditional Egyptian restaurants to juice bars and all sorts of international cuisine. There is food to be found everywhere, so if your tastes are not picky there will usually be something to eat within a block or two. Fruit, vegetable and bread vendors are located all over, and their prices are much lower than one finds in Western countries. Many vendors have price signs for their produce, so as long as you can read Arabic numbers you should be safe from being charged more than locals.

Although Cairo’s people are generally kind and friendly, there are also cheats, pickpockets and thieves in the city. You should always leave your valuables in a safe place and carry as little as possible in your pockets. People in Cairo do not usually carry wallets with them, and you should not either if you can help it. It is safer to only carry as much money as you need for a particular outing, and to stay away from the poorer parts of Cairo.

How to get white teeth naturally?

Struggling to get that pearl like white teeth back? Well, fret no more, because we have the solution. But to know how to fight with the yellowing of one’s teeth, it is essential that you know what causes it. There are several reasons for the discoloration of your teeth and a major part of it includes your lifestyle choices and obviously, to some extent, your genetics.

The part of your teeth which is apparent to the naked eye is known as enamel, which gives our teeth the white color. Now, there are certain food and drinks which might let the enamel of your teeth decay and thus reveal the yellow dentin. Smoking too can cause discoloration and so on goes the list. To speak of the ways by which you can get back your natural white color, you can always go for artificial methods and end up paying a fortune or you can simply go natural on your teeth. Here are few natural ways to get your white teeth back:

Mix some baking soda with a dash of lemon juice- There is no better thing than this duo. Baking soda or Sodium bicarbonate acts as an abrasive, which removes all the stains from your teeth and the lemon juice is one good, natural, bleach. Thus when you mix these two, put some of this paste on your toothbrush and brush your teeth for about some time and then wash it off, all the stains will be removed and your teeth will turn, comparatively, whiter. Do not overuse this paste on your teeth, because that can damage them severely but try and stick to this, once a week and you will get what you desire.

Apple does keep the doctors away, even the dentist- It is a known fact that crunchy fruits are good for health. So, we have all followed the pattern and started munching those apples left in the fruit bowl. But these apples help you immensely in maintaining the whiteness of your teeth, because they have malic acid, which dissolves all the stains.

Strawberry, baking soda and salt scrub- Strawberry is yummy as it is, but when mixed with salt and baking soda it will work wonders for your teeth. We have already covered the part as to what baking soda does for your teeth and to top it off, the strawberry, which has Vitamin C helps break down the plaque. There is also malic acid present in it, which removes the stain and the salt is the abrasive component which scrubs away the stains, physically.

Neem Leaf Twigs to get white teeth right at home: Considered as the oldest trick for a fuller and bright set of dentals, the neem leaf twigs have been in the scene for a long period of time. In fact before the arrival of these branded toothbrushes with fascinating qualities came on board the twig of this leave was the to-go for the best gum, cavity, and tooth care. It serves the purpose gradually and one can use it by squeezing the juice inside the twigs with the help of the teeth and in spite of using a toothbrush get useful ones from the Mother Nature.

Things You Thought Were True

Fruit Bat

It’s always best policy to take anything someone says with a grain of salt. There are very few absolute truths, so the more commonly held truths are usually false. Below, some age old classic myths are cleared up.

Sugar makes kids hyperactive.

The idea that sugar makes kids hyperactive has been debunked for decades, yet it’s still a commonly held opinion. If there is a connection between sugar and activity, it hasn’t been proven. There are many factors that parents overlook by operating under the assumption that sugar is causing kids to act out. Age of the child, environment, activities and interactions have a greater effect on a child than diet. There are potential medical concerns with too much sugar in a child’s diet, but hyperactivity probably isn’t one of them.

Cracking your knuckles will give you arthritis.

Most likely perpetrated to get others to stop an annoying habit, studies on knuckle cracking and arthritis are inconclusive at best. The funniest study was from a doctor who, after warnings by his mother, cracked only the knuckles on his left hand for 60 years, finding no discernible difference between his two hands. Still, swollen hands or reduced grip strength may be a different result to watch out for.

Bulls hate the color red.

Spanish matadors used red muletas centuries ago, probably because that is the color of their flag. Bulls charge at the object in motion, not a specific color. They are color blind.

Bats are blind.

Bats can fly perfectly well at high speeds in dark caves, though not necessarily because they are able to see in complete darkness. They use a process called echolocation, in which they make noise and listen for the vibrations from objects. Bats do have a keen sense of sight, most as well as humans, and some even see in color. Next time someone says you are blind as a bat, take it as a compliment.

Vikings wore horned helmets.

Helmeted vikings was a stereotype that began with artists in the nineteenth century. The use of ornaments on a helmet likely would have made battle harder on vikings. They typically wore carefully riveted cone or dome shaped iron helmets. Breaking this myth is less romantic, so people will probably go on believing vikings wore very elaborate costumes like Thor.

Restarting your computer is bad for the hard drive.

Common thought prevails that it takes strains a computer more to start than to keep running. In a lot of ways, machines respond to stimuli like humans. A computer needs exercise, but also can get keeps the system refreshed. Like restoring the immune system, the computer keeps strength to deal with corruption or viruses. To start fresh reduces load times and enables faster performance like a well-oiled machine

Alcohol kills brain cells.

Drinking in moderation is fine. Long-term brain damage has been noted with heavy drinkers, but some of that is due to nutritional deficiencies rather than alcohol specifically. Alcohol impairs function, reducing communication between neurons by restructuring brain cells, not killing them. The notion of killing brain cells is more true within the developing brains from unborn babies to teenagers. But, alcohol is still dangerous and causes other problems, specifically esophageal cancer. Also, it’s a myth that humans use only 10% of the brain. In fact, the entire brain is at work all the time.

Hands-free phones are safer while driving.

In most, if not all, states, hands-free devices are a permissible form of cell phone use while driving.  However, that doesn’t make hands-free devices safer. They provide a false sense of security for drivers. Plus, having a conversation on the phone has shown that drivers process images slower and have only half the normal field of view. Studies have shown little to no difference between dangers of handheld and hands-free devices.

IT jobs are not sustainable after age 35.

The IT industry has a long history of ageism. However, routine tasks are typically outsourced to specialists, people who need a specific knowledge, not knowledge of all computer systems. Many positions have huge need for workers, while employers can’t wait around several years for an expert to graduate. Fields like analytics and marketing are well-suited for literature or music backgrounds, not necessarily math or computer science backgrounds. Basically, if someone is willing to do those jobs, they can get hired at any age.

The Dwarves are the greatest rock and roll band in the world.

For twenty-five years, the Dwarves have not been shy or humble about acknowledging that they are the greatest and even named their last album “The Dwarves Invented Rock and Roll”. All that time, the Supersuckers have held the same claim. In fact, their website header lists them as “The Greatest Rock-N-Roll Band in the World.” I tend to believe the Supersuckers with evidence from an interview by Dwarves’ singer Blag Dahlia, in which Supersuckers’ singer Eddie Spaghetti clearly tells his peer in rock that the Supersuckers are the greatest, to no objection.

Art Murals On Google’s Data Center Walls

Google, one of the largest and richest companies on the planet, thanks to its internet and technology business, has decided that the outsides of its data centers are boring. So the company has decided to hire artists to put murals on the walls of these centers to not only make them aesthetically pleasing but to create curiosity about the work that is going on inside. Thus far, two data centers, in Oklahoma and Belgium, display murals. Two more, in Dublin, Ireland and Council Bluffs, Iowa, are slated for the artistic upgrade. Google plans for 11 other data centers across the world to be decorated with murals.

Jenny Odell and her Google Map Inspired Mural

In Mayes County, Oklahoma, an artist named Jenny Odell decided to take her inspiration from Google Maps. She resides in the San Francisco Bay Area and thus grew up around technology centered on Silicon Valley. Images in her mural include swimming pools, salt ponds, circular farms, and wastewater treatment plants. Odell is interested in bridging the digital world and the visual, thereby creating curiosity in people who view her art and making them gain a new perspective of the physical world.

Oli-B’s Mural Inspired by the Inside and Surroundings of the Data Center

Oli-B created the mural that now graces the outside walls of the Google data center in St. Ghislain, Belgium. Oli-B’s approach is to combine images from inside the data center–objects, animals, and people–with those from the surrounding town. The mural’s images are incorporated in clouds, a metaphor for “the cloud,” in which an entire universe has been created digitally. Oli-B works in a variety of media, including acrylic, spray paint, digital, and screen printing. He uses a variety of surfaces, including paper, canvas, wood, walls and even stickers. He started as a graffiti artist in his teenage years before turning respectable, though he has not quite broken away from his street artist roots. Oli-B’s work tends to be in bright, appealing colors that catch the eye, His work can be seen on various walls, posters, and even articles of clothing in Belgium and elsewhere in Europe.

The Purpose of Corporate Art

In the modern age, as it was during the Renaissance, corporations and rich benefactors are increasingly becoming patrons of the arts. Office buildings, hotels, and other structures are enhanced when they are decorated with paintings, sculptures, murals, and other appealing objects. Whether one is a merchant prince in 15th century Florence or a dot.com entrepreneur in 21st century Silicon Valley, patronizing the arts brings prestige.

Google believes that the murals being created on the walls of its data centers will serve as attention-getting devices, drawing the eye to what would otherwise be drab, boring structures. The company believes that what goes on inside these data centers is of great interest and significance. The idea is that the buildings themselves should reflect that fact.

In any case, we can look forward with interest to what the data centers in Dublin and Council Bluffs will look like once the artists hired to create murals get through with them.

Hi-Tech Wingz Delivers Cheaper Airport Transfers

A successful new app called Wingz connects drivers with passengers who need affordable airport transfers at the beginning and end of their journeys in the US.

A new peer-to-peer platform which provides cheap airport transfers for travelers has made quite its mark in the US. Wingz is similar to tap and ride apps such as Uber, in that it connects drivers who want to make a flexible living with passengers who need single trip rides all over the city. However, Wingz is focused solely on airport pickups and drop-offs.

Perfect Solution For Planners

Wingz is already up and running out of several airports in the US including San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle-Tacoma, LAX, Denver and John Wayne. Passengers are able to book their airport journeys in advance either online, through the app or even through a booking partner such as Expedia. Whilst the incredibly successful Uber model has many benefits, Wingz gives passengers peace of mind in knowing that they have already organised their car both to and from a flight before their trip. Many travellers who use Wingz book their airport transfers at the same time as booking their flights. Expedia has even integrated the Wingz platform into its own booking engine for those who want to organise private transfer options. Whilst Uber is the perfect solution for the spontaneous and on-demand society that we live in, Wingz is great for planners who don’t want to book their pick-up car when they’re at the airport at the end of a long and tiring flight.

Flexible Options

Travel plans can often change at the last minute, usually because of a flight delay or cancellation. If this is the case and you are delayed by more than 30 minutes, Wingz requests that you contact your driver to let them know your new arrival time. If the driver is unable to fulfill your request, then you must email customer support who will try to match you up with a new driver.

If you’re travelling with children, then you can simply request that your Wingz car is equipped with your requirements of infant or booster seats. Those that need to travel with a buggy should simply include it as a checked piece of baggage so that the car has enough boot space in which to fit all the luggage that you’re travelling with.

Loyalty

Wingz has concentrated its efforts on creating brand loyalty not only to its passengers but also to its drivers. Passengers who have enjoyed a journey with a particular driver and have built a rapport with them are able to request the same driver on a subsequent journey by using the direct booking feature. Customers are also able to enjoy rewards for being a Wingz passenger by getting a $5 credit for every friend or family member who they refer.

Sadly, the Wingz service is not available in the UK at present. Instead, some other options for getting to and from airports include using a black cab, coach transfer, MiniCabit or Uber. However, travellers who are going to the States can of course book their stateside airport pickups and drop-offs using Wingz and organise something else for their return back to the UK. Hopefully it won’t be long before UK passengers can enjoy some sort of seamless airport transfer service included at the beginning and end of our own travel plans.
